HERRIN – A anonymous tip received through the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office’s newly released app led to the apprehension of a Johnston City man in Herrin Sunday night.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to the 1000 block of South 16th Street in Herrin at 10:50 p.m. When they arrived, deputies saw Christopher D. Gravett of Johnston City, in the home. Gravett was most recently featured on the Sheriff’s Office “Warrant Wednesday” Facebook post on June 7. He was wanted for Driving while License Suspended.

Deputies made entry to the home and located Gravett who had attempted to flee from arriving deputies by hiding in the attic.

Sheriff Jeff Diederich says law enforcement is quite skilled at locating persons the courts have issued warrants for. The sheriff prefers those who have warrants to simply turn themselves in at the sheriff’s office and meet their obligations to the court. When that doesn’t occur, the sheriff says deputies have repeatedly demonstrated their willingness to do whatever is necessary to locate these individuals including the search of attics.

Gravett has been remanded into the custody of the Williamson County Jail.
