DAHLGREN – “Willie” Rapp Jr., age 90, of Dahlgren, passed away at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.
Visitation will be held Sunday, May 12, from 5 to 7 p.m., at The Chapel of St. John Nepomucene in Dahlgren. Rosary will be held at 5 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held Monday, May 13, at 10 a.m. The church doors will open at 9 a.m. Father Steve Pautler will officiate the service. Burial will be in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Dahlgren.
He was born August 3, 1933, in Belle Rive to William Edgar Rapp Sr. and Freida (Stark) Rapp. He married Bernetta Stich on May 8, 1956, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Dahlgren. Willie worked as a carpenter along side his brothers in Rapp Brothers Construction. He loved working in his wood shop, gardening, playing with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Some of the best times he had was with people coming by his wood shop to visit while he was working. He had such a passion for fine woodworking projects from clocks to fine furniture and novelties. He was always active taking care of things that needed done for others and himself.
William was a life long member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Dahlgren.
Willie is survived by his wife Bernetta Rapp; sons Donald Rapp and wife Susan of Dahlgren, Raymond Rapp of Dahlgren, Dennis Rapp and wife Susan of Morton, IL, Gary Rapp and wife Allison of Dahlgren; daughter Carolyn Hall and husband Brad of McLeansboro, 13 grandchildren Danielle Hutcheson, Taylor Rapp, Destinee Hargis, Brittani Combs, Timothy Rapp, Emma Rapp, Kevin Rapp, Aaron Rapp, Jeremy Rapp, Andrew and Daniel Rapp, Matthew and Josh Hall; 5 great-grandchildren Tucker Hall, Talan Hall, Aubrey Hall, Adrian Rendon, and Gideon Rendon.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers Lawrence, Harold, and Phillip Rapp; sisters Rita Kiefer and Delores Orf.
The Harre Funeral Home in Dahlgren is in charge of arrangements.
