HERRIN – Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two men after meth and drug paraphernalia were seized following a traffic stop in Herrin Thursday.

According to the sheriff’s office, Steven L. Hilliard and James L. Wise were both cited with Felony Possession of Methamphetamine and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Hillard also was cited for Improper Lane Usage. They were booked into the Williamson County Jail.
Just before 4:30 p.m., deputies stopped a SUV pulling a utility trailer with no visible registration. The SUV was also seen crossing the center line several times. Hillard was driving the vehicle and Wise was his passenger.
During the stop deputies discovered Wise had an active arrest warrant for Failure to Appear for Possession of Methamphetamine. They also found him with meth before he was arrested.
A sheriff’s K-9 arrived and conducted a free air sniff of the vehicle. The K-9 provided a positive alert to the odor of illegal narcotics.
A lawful search of the vehicle was done which located a bag containing meth, drug paraphernalia, straws with meth residue and a hypodermic syringe.
