HERRIN – A Herrin man is lodged in the Williamson County Jail following his arrest Wednesday for Aggravated Battery of a Child.
According to Herrin Police, 24-year-old Jeffrey S. Smith was taken into custody following an investigation by the Herrin Police Department in collaboration with the Franklin-Williamson County Child Advocacy Center, the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services and the Williamson County State’s Attorney’s office.
The investigation, which included interviews revealed that Smith allegedly committed the offense against a child under 13 years of age.
