SOUTHERN ILLINOIS – There was good news for travelers over the Christmas holiday in Southern Illinois.
The Illinois Department of Transportation reported that I-57 from I-24 to Illinois 146 has reopened following completion of the concrete overlay project. Only minor work remains, and minimal traffic impacts are expected. Final work on the project is scheduled to wrap up by spring.
In addition, the I-64 concrete overlay project from west of Mt. Vernon to the Washington County line has also wrapped up, with all lanes now open to traffic. Minor work will continue through the spring with minimal impacts expected.
