
BENTON – Two people from West Frankfort are facing charges in connection with a recent burglary/theft at a rural Franklin County garage.
Franklin County Sheriff Kyle Bacon says on June 16, deputies responded to the burglary/theft report at the garage and learned that several tools and miscellaneous other items were taken in the theft.
Sheriff Bacon says during the course of the investigation, deputies were able to develop suspects in the theft.
A search warrant was obtained by deputies on June 21 for a home in West Frankfort. It was believed that stolen property and the suspects were within the home.
Upon execution of the warrant, numerous items from the theft were recovered. The suspects, 29-year-old Samuel L. Sweet of West Frankfort and 42-year-old Jayma M. Rich also of West Frankfort, were located within the home. They were placed under arrest and charged with Theft and Identity Theft.
Sweet is currently being housed in the Franklin County Jail in lieu of $40,000 bond. Rich’s bond was set at $20,000 and has since been posted.
