GRAND TOWER – Two people were killed and two others were injured in an industrial accident Monday afternoon in Jackson County.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says around 4:50 p.m., they received a 911 call about the accident near the intersection of Brunkhorst Road and 20th Street in Grand Tower. This is the construction site of the Kinder Morgan Natural Gas Pipeline. Initial reports indicated multiple people were injured as a result of the accident.

Upon arrival on scene, it was determined two people suffered fatal injuries as a result of the accident and were pronounced dead on scene. Two others were transported via ambulance to an area hospital where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries and later released. The names of the deceased are being held pending proper notification of family members. The investigation is currently ongoing.

Members of the Tower Rock Fire Department, Grand Tower Fire Department, the Jackson County Ambulance Service, the Union County Ambulance Service, the Grand Tower Police Department, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the Jackson County Coroner’s Office responded to assist with this incident.
